Collect identical surveys
Collecting identical surveys proposes the same dialog box as for the operating mode Gathering data. The only difference is that it is not possible to add a source variable (which values are the names of the corresponding surveys).
Automatically number
Automatically number allows you to rank your observations. It is possible either to number the observations, by creating a new variable which values will be the numbers of observations, or by « restoring » the sections. This second option allows you to separate your observations in x parts (for example you have 100 observations, you restore 4 parts, this will create a new variable « Section » which will have for value « Section_1 » for the 25 first observations, « Section_2 » for the 25 following etc.. till « Section_4 ». This option is used especially for the text variables, type interview. In this case of figure, each observation corresponds to one sentence of the person interviewed. As you wish to compare what has been told in the beginning, in the middle and in the end of the speech (for example by analyzing the most cited words for each part). Separate the observations by section allows you to have this type of analysis.
1 Select Numbering the observations to create a variable which contains for each observation its unique number,
2 Choose Reconstitute x parts to separate your observations by parts. All the parts will be relative to the same number of observations (to the nearest observation)
3 You can create your parts for the set of observations or for each value of a variable, for example on a text variable in the case of an interview analysis.
By clicking Next you reach the next dialog box where you choose the name of the variable to create and where you wish to insert this variable (in the beginning or in the end).
Click Finish to validate and quit the assistant.
