Setting a predefined calculation

Setting a predefined calculation consists in using the functions proposed by Sphinx iQ in order to calculate and create a new variable (average, standard deviation, etc). To use this function, in the tab Data, click Calculate.

You reach a dialog box where you can choose the type of calculation you wish to set.

Choose a function of calculation to do. In this example, we will calculate the average of values of two variables (explanation of other calculations in the section Dialog boxes).

Select the variables of which you wish to calculate the average of values. Here, we wish to calculate the weekly average budget of the consumption of tea and coffee.

This page shows the value calculated of each observation corresponding to its weekly average consumption of tea and coffee.

1 Define the name and the title of the new variable which will be created. The title gives information about the variable, which appear, for example, when passing the mouse on the icon info.

2 Choose where you wish to insert this variable in the central working area (in the beginning, at the end, before the variable).
