Insert a compound table

The compound tables allow to create customised and advanced analyses where you choose the variable to analyze in line, the variable to analyze in column, and the type of data to generate in the cells of the table. If you wish to insert only a classic cross table, you'd rather choose the function Insert a cross table.

In the banner, tab Insertion, click Compound table.

The dialog box of Compound table properties displays. it involves six tabs and is opened automatically in the tab Table.

In the present case, we wish to have a distribution, type (Male/female) according to the age of respondents (3 profiles set by age group).

The three cells to tick above this tab allow to activate and set the display of tables, sorting in order and the truncation.

In the sections Lines and Columns, select the profiles and / or the variables you wish to display in the compound table.

• To choose a variable, select it in the drop-down menu. The text field Name allows to rename a profile : It is this name which will appear in the line/column containing this profile. The button  allows to apply rules of calculation on the variable selected.
• To choose a profile, click on the icon , then to modify it, click on . You must create as many profiles as lines/columns wished in the compound table. To delete a profile click on the button .The arrows allow to reorganize the profiles (order of appearance in the table).

Finally, the section cells allows to define the data you wish to display in the cells of the compound table. Select the type of data (effectives, average, sum, Basic calculation), adjust the options if necessary. You can also display the percentages in line / in column / on the total.

Click on the tab Content.

This tab allows to generate the content of the object. It is possible to define the Name of the table, possibly add a complementary Description, display the Table (by adapting the size of columns in case of need), and the Graph.

Click on the tab Calculate.

This tab allows to adapt a specific profile to the whole compound table, in addition to those carried out in  lines / columns (in the tab Table)

The tabs Graph and Display allow to manage the options of presentation of the graph (if the latter belongs to the content of the object) and the general display (font, border, background color, automatic shaping of the table).

Once the set of options are carried out click OK. The corresponding compound table is therefore generated in the view.
