Question/ Table

How to get access to the assistant :

• To create a new question (table) : In the tab Insertion, click Question or Table
• To modify an existing question (table) :
  In the working area, put the cursor on the object Question and click  

This assistant proposes to create a question or a table and define its settings. The tab Definition allows to indicate the title of the question or the table, the abbreviated name (name of the variable), the type of the question ( questions in case of a table) and the complementary options in function of the latter.

The tab Controls allows eventually to hide the question or the table in a form (The aim of this option is the creation of several forms not having the same structure). It is also possible to set a condition of presentation allowing to show the question / the table in function of given profile.

The options of presentation allow to make the answer compulsory (The respondent cannot continue the data entry unless he answers the question), set a jump (jump a set of questions according to the chosen profile and move directly to another question). Whether the answer is obligatory or it moves by a jump, it is possible to define a personalized message of alert. The latter allows whether to inform the respondent of the obligation to answer the question, or to inform him that he will skip a set of questions because his profile is not available.

In case of a closed or scale question, it is possible to treat the display of the modalities, either by setting presentation conditions of modalities in function of a profile, or by establishing an aleatory rotation of modalities. In a closed question, the modalities of answers proposed in first position have more chance to be chosen by the questioned. The aleatory presentation of modalities allows to avoid this «anchor effect» and therefore eliminate a potential source of bias.

The tab Analysis and calculation allows first to give a short name (short title). For the closed and scale questions, it is then proposed to assign weight to modalities and put them into categories. The option Define a scale consists in affecting a digital value (a weight) which allows in the analysis moment to treat the scales in numbers and to set indicators (average, score, etc..). It is possible, for the question tables, to affect a different scale for each line.

The put into categories serves to provide the classes in which certain modalities will be regrouped (for example ''Soft drinks'' for the water, orange juice, tea, coffee, etc..).

Define the variable as automatic is useful if it is wished that the answer would be identical to the previous observation.

Finally, it is possible to set a calculated variable. The most current calculations are the average, sum, duration and age. For a table, only the options of treatment of modalities are available.

Finally, the tab Presentation allows to define the visual representation, the content, and the capture area. 

The tab Fonts and colors allows to define the font, the size and the color of a section or the wholeness of the question title.
